Trash the Movie is in the can

'Trash: the movie' is finally finished. The team – Stephen Daldry, Richard Curtis and Kris Thykier - are back from Rio, and the editing is almost over.
‘I’ve seen the first cut,’ says Andy, ‘and it’s mesmerizing. Martin Sheen is good, and so is Rooney Mara – what took my breath away, though, were the performances of the three boys. A Kidnapping: Radio4 Drama

‘A Kidnapping’ is a three-part radio play for BBC Radio 4 and enjoyed both critical success and a certain amount of controversy after its recent broadcast. Set in the Philippines, it tells the story of two foolish teachers who realise they have the most extraordinary opportunity. They work at Manila’s top international school, and have open access to the children of the rich and famous. Would it be possible to kidnap a child, and make instant-millions? So quick, so easy, so harmless… The ransom would be paid in cash – fast – and the teachers would be out of the country at the end of their contract. The child would be safe, and they’d be millionaires.

Carnegie Shortlisting!

The short-list for the CLIP Carnegie Prize was announced on March 27th – and ‘Trash’ was on it, one of eight children’s books. Alas, Andy was pipped to the post. ‘It was an honour, nonetheless,’ says Andy. ‘The CLIP Carnegie is serious, and to have made it to the final eight is a prize in itself, especially as the judges are principally specialist librarians, immersed in children’s literature...
